The new millenium is establishing new bases for the buying and consumer habits. Flexible packaging has changed in great manner in the past few years to the point that today the pack presentation cannot be any longer a simple package but a real packaging solution with real shape and function benefits which will set the difference between a well presented and innovative product and the rest. New packaging methods are constantly being developed to provide more attractive packs as well as extended product protection and shelf life. The horizontal form fill-seal pouch makers is the core product line of Mespack. Mespack is continuously expanding its machine range to the point that there is hardly any product which cannot be packed into a pouch made of flexible film. Solid, liquid, powder, granules, everything is possible on a Mespack machine which enables you to present your product in a most innovative shape and using latest techniques. Magnetic Inductive Flowmeter FM BOPP + REUTTER. For conductive liquids and pasty products composed of: Pressurized hopper of 60 litres capacity made of sanitized 316 stainless steel including a 2 way valve for product return. Electronically controlled inductive measuring system which actuates directly on the filling nozzles. Sanitized nozzles made of 316 stainless steel with pneumatic product cut-off system. Electronic independent control box with alpha-numeric display to pre-set fill doses, and statistical display of all needed data. Filling accuracy +/- 1%. This type of filler is available from one to six heads.
This is a filling system for free and non free flowing products as well as for dusty and volatile products. There are two different versions of Auger Filler: 1.A/C Motor with clutch / brake system. 2.D/C Servomotor. In both cases the fill dose is pre-set in a counter of the touch screen. When using a clutch / brake unit the count is made by the impulses of a transductor through a fast count input of the PLC. This system is more economic but it needs periodic maintenance in the clutch / brake and it is not possible to adjust the speed of the screw. Accuracy is around +/- 1'5 % for most products. When using a servo-motor, the accuracy and the stop position is always exact, (with no inertias). This system does not require any maintenance and permits to adjust the speed and the acceleration / deacceleration curves of the screw. The link with the PLC is made through a port of communication RS 485. Accuracy is around +/- 1 % for most products. The auger fillers are available in simplex, duplex, triplex or quadruplex versions.
This is a system used for free- flowing products and which can be filled by volume. The system is composed by a stainless steel hopper which contains the products and that same flows by gravity into a rotary plate with built in cups. This cups are telescopic and allow a certain range of volume., i.e . 1 to 10 cc., 20 to 40 cc.... Different interchangeable sets of cups are available. There are two systems available, the mechanically driven unit commanded by a cam and the motorized clutch / brake unit. These fillers can be either simplex or duplex.
This type of filler is particularly indicated for viscous and pasty products. The pump is composed of a 20 litres hopper made of stainless steel connected to an electrovalve which is synchronized with the filling machine through an electric signal which allows to make a fill at each impulse. There are several pump sizes to cover fill doses from 1 to 250 cc. The nozzles are customized according to the product characteristics and can be supplied with suck back or blow off system. This filling pumps have various optional accessories as heated or pressurized hoppers for very thick products, hopper level detectors C.I.P. facilities etc... Fill temperature up to 95 â« degrees centigrade.
This system is used for free flowing products which due to their characteristics cannot be dosed using a conventional system. The vibratory filler is composed of stainless steel vibratory bowls which provide a continous flow of product into the vibratory channels which are synchronized to the machine cycle. Vibration intensity can be adecuated to the characteristics of the product.

Flexible packaging is becoming more and more popular due to its multiple advantages over other types of materials. This can be clearly noticed in some sectors as food and beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, health and personal care amongst others where flexible packs are gradually replacing traditional presentations like glass jars, tins or other rigid containers. In the food sector products like dry soups or spices are mostly packed in flat or gusseted stand up pouches. These pouches may have up to 4 different components filled separately. Snacks, coffee, sauces, edible oils, are presented in attractive stand up pouches, incorporating shapes, tear notches, display holes, etc... Cheese products frequently incorporate a reclosable zip system. In the pharmaceutical sector it is very common to pack free flowing granules or various types of powders or tablets into 3 or 4 side sealed sachets or stick packs. For this application we offer our small and medium range of horizontal machines or stick pack makers at speeds of over 800 packs / minute. For cosmetic, beauty care and household market segments we have available a multitude of possibilities from small portion packs for gels and creams to large stand up packs to contain up to 3 liters volume mostly utilized for detergents and cleaners. Other sectors which are also joining the flexible packaging family are beverages as fruit juice or energetic drinks, liquid yogourts, pet-food with a variety of dry or moist products, frozen food, canned products, dry fruits and many others. For all products above we have special features which will enhance and provide character to your new packs.
The main aim of flexible film is to keep the contents in good condition until they are sold and consumed, and to encourage customers to purchase the products. Correct packaging is essential to achieve both these objectives. The importance of packaging can be summarized as follows. - If adequately packaged and treated, the shelf-life of products may be extended, and this allows the products to be distributed to both domestic and export markets. - Correct packaging prevents any wastage (such as leakage or deterioration) which may occur during transportation and distribution. - Good packaging and presentation encourages consumers to buy. High print quality can be obtained with actual flexible packaging films using either flexo or rotogravure printing. Most common material used in our machines would be: PET/PE, PAPER/ALU/PE, ALU/PE, PET/ALU/PE amongst many other combinations. - Polypropylene (PP): Polypropylene is a clear glossy film with a high strength, and is puncture resistant. It has low permeability to moisture, gases, and odours, which is not affected by changes in humidity. It stretches, although less than polythene. It has good resistance to oil, and therefore can be used successfully for packaging oily products. - Polythene Low-density (LDPE): Heat sealable, inert, odour-free, and shrinks when heated. It is a good moisture barrier, but has a relatively high gas permeability, sensitivity to oils, and poor odour resistance. It is less expensive than most films and is therefore widely used. - High-density polythene (HDPE): Stronger, thicker, less flexible, and more fragile than low-density polythene. It has lower permeability to gases and moisture. It has a higher softening temperature (121âC) and can therefore be heat sterilized. - Polyester (PET): The glossier film. It offers excellent appearance and has very good barrier properties. This type of film is widely used in flexible packaging due to its mechanical and dimentional characteristics at high temperatures. - Laminated films: Laminated films are two or more films glued together. Lamination improves the appearance, the barrier properties, or the mechanical strength of a package. Aluminium foil is widely used in laminated combinations for most pharma and food products.. Other materials as cellulose, water soluble films (PVA), and special laminations as for example, laminations for "Retort" are also commonly used. Also it is to be taken into consideration that flexible films are more economic and environmentally friendly if compared with other types of traditional presentations as glass, PET, metal cans, etc...
