  • Mespack is continuing its activity in the Philippine market at AFEX 2018(current)
The Duravant Group company was very pleased with this year’s Asian event (12th-15th September). More than 75 customers visited the stand of its distributor in the Philippines, Aumpack.
Mespack was particularly promoting its flexible packaging machines for the food and drink (snacks and sauces) markets in the region at AFEX.

Barcelona, 2 october 2018.- With more than 500 confirmed exhibitors Asia Food Expo (AFEX) has drawn to a close after three days (12th-15th September) when Manila’s World Trade Center became the major shop-window for technology, packaging and handling equipment and machinery in the food processing industry. And Mespack was there.

The international manufacturer of flexible packaging machines did not pass up what has become an unmissable date in the world of packaging given the upward trend of the food and drink market in the Philippines. And being there went very well for Mespack: “Once again this year, we were represented at AFEX by our regional distributor, Aumpack, with two aims: to tell our customers about our know-how and to consolidate our presence in the food and drink market in the Philippines. And we achieved those aims. More than 75 people from the industry came to our stand and were very interested in our flexible packaging machines, which are robust, reliable and versatile (they can produce spout formats and twin formats) and so can help them to continue to grow,” states Santi Alberich, Mespack’s Marketing Director.

The Duravant Group company was particularly focusing on its MS1200 machine, “we have a strong presence in the snack market in the Philippines and this large format stick pack machine is perfect for snacks,” continues Alberich. MS1200 is outstanding in terms of its technology and precision (it operates fully with servomotors). “It has 4 tracks, although it can take 6, and produces large format stick packs (90 mm wide, although this machine can produce 115 mm stick packs),” adds the Company’s Marketing Director. As far as speed is concerned, this machine can reach 65 cycles a minute, which allows it to produce 260 sachets of dried fruit a minute (the speed achieved in practice will depend on the product and the volume in each sachet).

At AFEX Mespack also promoted its HFFS and HFS series machines (for pre-formed sachets) which, partnered with a multi-weigher, can make larger formats for the same market.

When less is more

Another market segment that the international manufacturer wanted to develop at the Asian event was sauces (tomato sauce and others) where its machines can handle front, top or corner spouts and have high throughput and offer great flexibility and differentiation. “Offering a range of forms and quick changes of format is what marks us out,” stresses Alberich.

This is borne out by Mespack’s recent improvements to its HFFS machines which have greatly reduced downtime, especially format changeover times, with the best quality in terms of the edges and shapes of the sachets. “It’s an optimised version of our laser cutting system developed with MACSA ID, which we showed at Interpack 2017 with great success,” confirms the Marketing Director. The new system allows packages to be cut and coded in one place and with a single machine, when previously several were needed, with consequent savings in terms of components and maintenance time. In addition, manufacturers of sachets with rounded or straight edges won’t have to leave the margin needed by the cutting patterns, so that they will also save a lot of film.
